One of the largest garden tools manufacturers in the UK. Became part of Elliot – Medway construction, where Bulldog Tools bought the garden tools section of the business
1986
Sold to Newship group and became Jenks & Cattell Engineering Ltd. Family owned business and own various manufacturing companies.
1990
Accredited to BS 5750, the first quality system approved by British standards
1992
Introduced two robotic welders to support business for Austin Rover group
1993
Four stage AIDA line welcomed to the factory

Began exporting to Europe and South America

Began supplying General Motors, starting our tier 1 and 2 OEM supply chain

Introduced automated 500 tonne press

Increased our AIDA progression press from 4 to 6 stages to improve complexity and efficiency of parts

Introduced Trumpf laser machine to laser cut and etch metal parts

Invested in two Trumpf brake presses to accompany our laser machine. Completing mid-low volume fabrications and prototypes

£10,000 investment on internal macro-weld test facility

Invested £750k on additional Trumpf laser machine, to introduce 24-7 production and cut materials up to 20mm thick

Achieved Caterpillars 7 Steps to Welding Excellence – being one of just 3 UK suppliers

Employ over 100 people including 5 apprentices and 3 graduates – turnover £9.2m
