Today we say a fond farewell to one of Jenks & Cattell Engineering’s most dedicated and well-loved team members – Steve Reade, our Goods Inwards Team Leader – as he embarks on a well-earned retirement.
Steve joined us on 4th March 1996 and has been a constant presence in the business ever since, clocking up an incredible 29 years of service. Although he didn’t quite make the big 3-0, we couldn’t let him go without honouring him as if he had – presenting him with an honorary 30 Years’ Service award and a well-deserved £300 gift to put towards something special of his choice. This was presented to Steve by Wolverhampton Wanderers legend, Steve Bull.
Throughout his career, Steve has been the beating heart of our Goods In Warehouse – running a tight ship and building strong relationships with suppliers and delivery drivers alike. Known for his tireless work ethic, attention to detail, and an unmistakable sense of humour, Steve is a go to person as nothing was too much trouble.
At our recent Celebration of Achievement event, our Technical Director, Craig Jeavons – who has had the pleasure of working alongside Steve for the full 29 years – delivered a heartfelt and humorous tribute that reminded us all just how much of a character Steve has been over the years. From laugh-out-loud moments to small acts of daily dedication, Steve’s impact on the team and the company culture has been immeasurable.
What a time to retire – the sun is shining, summer is around the corner, and Steve can now enjoy the rest of the football season as a proud Liverpool fan and Premier League Champion.
Steve, thank you for everything. You’ll be truly missed but never forgotten. We wish you all the best in your next chapter – filled with relaxation, music, laughter, and maybe a few more Reds wins!
