As part of Jenks & Cattell Engineering’s commitment to delivering leading quality standards, the welding team, who currently operate a double shift have completed welding training.
Our welding capabilities include spot, projection, manual and robot, and to ensure our high standards remain consistent across our expanding workforce, a comprehensive in-house welding refresher course was delivered by our experienced Technical Director, Craig Jeavons. With extensive expertise in welding quality, Craig led the initiative as part of our ongoing welding adherence programme.
“As part of our continued welding quality adherence, all our direct and indirect staff took part in our ‘in-house’ training and awareness course, covering some basics and fundamentals of welding,” said Craig. “The two courses covered both our resistance and MIG welding teams and were positively received and participated in.”
The sessions covered a range of essential topics including:
- Welding specifications, symbols, and interpretation of engineering drawings
- Common weld defects, including how to identify and prevent them
- Missing welds and intermittent welds
- Weld profiles and inspection standards
- Good working practices and consistent technique
- Use of the reject cage for quality assurance and traceability
- Housekeeping in welding areas
- Health & Safety protocols specific to welding environments
The course also included real-world examples of weld defects and concluded with a short test questionnaire. We’re pleased to report that all team members passed, and certificates of competency have been issued.
This initiative reinforces Jenks & Cattell Engineering’s proactive approach to maintaining exceptional quality, consistency, and safety across our operations—as we continue to invest in our people and processes.
